What is Life Between Lives?
A Life Between Lives (LBL) is a deep state of expanded awareness, developed over many years designed to directly experience your soul self and connect with your guiding beings.
LBL sessions reawaken a deeper understanding of your immortal identity and is a journey of inter-life exploration of your own memories of the spiritual realm where we return to between incarnations.
For more information about Life Between Lives, see our dedicated page Life between Lives
What does LBL offer people?
Life Between Lives sessions offer a transcendent state to help people re-establish a deeper sense of connection with their superconsciousness and their individual spiritual guidance.
Many people are touched deeply by the sense of truth and knowing that LBL wisdom can offer. To understand for yourself, your own soul’s purpose for incarnating, often brings clarity of direction and a renewed sense of individual purpose.
It can offer a sense of belonging in the universe, bringing new understanding to current life situations and the presenting opportunities that life lessons are offering your soul development.

What are the potential Benefits of an LBL session?
LBL sessions bring healing and personal growth. Most people come to an LBL session with the hope of learning more about their life purpose or the reasons for certain life experiences or connections with others. LBL can also offer the knowing of what awaits us when we leave this lifetime, transcending the fear of death.
How much does an LBL session cost?
As each LBL facilitator runs their own independent business and LBL practice, the price of an LBL session varies across countries and regions. It is best to make individual enquiries with the facilitators on our Find an LBL Facilitator page.
I have read some of the books, will my experience be just like the LBL cases written?
LBL work aims to connect the individual with their own unique truth that they need at that time. In that way the session is guided by the individual’s own higher beings. Therefore, no two LBL’s can ever be the same.
There are however many similarities that may present in an LBL session, which is why Dr Michael Newton was able to map the afterlife for these sessions to be facilitated. The cases published in Dr Michael Newtons books are excerpts from some of his best cases (about 40 cases of 7000), therefore they are very high standard examples of an LBL experience.
In a usual LBL session, most people’s LBL will involve some but not all afterlife ‘station stops’. However, it is not the places that you remember visiting in LBL that is the most important or life changing. The most valuable experience an LBL offers is the first-hand awareness that you gain from reconnecting with and remembering your immortal identity, how you feel in your expanded energy body and how you access your own immortal wisdom that you can apply to your life.
If you have read the books don’t worry, but do just park any pre-set expectations and allow yourself to authentically show up for what you need to experience on the day with your LBL Facilitator. More recently we have noticed that some sessions no longer follow the traditional path, as more diverse experiences emerge.

All MNI LBL Facilitators are also bound by the MNI Code of Ethics. LBL is a registered Trademark. See also A Note from Michael – Choosing an LBL Facilitator. We suggest you follow the call of your soul to the right person for you. It may be helpful to check different websites and talk to a number of people before deciding.
How can I best prepare for an LBL?
Any work you can do where you practice quietening your mind can help you enjoy and get more out of an LBL, for example guided meditation.
Before attending your session you will also be asked by your LBL Facilitator to prepare a list of questions to ask in the session. This will help guide your session to achieve the answers you seek. The opportunity to ask questions from your superconscious is a wonderful opportunity to bring a new higher understanding to your current life so think about writing down the biggest questions for you. If you could ask anything of a wise being, what would you want to know? Some preliminary sessions may be required also, for example past life, though your LBL Facilitator will discuss this with you.
Should I read LBL books before I have my session?
Although many people have read some LBL books before undertaking their own session, in some ways it is better if you don’t. The choice is yours.
Having an LBL is a deeply unique experience which is designed to meet you exactly where you are at as enabled by your personal guiding beings. Pre-set expectations of what the experience may be like can sometimes get in the way of people embracing their own unique LBL journey.
Afterall, there is nothing more validating than having an LBL for yourself and then reading the books afterwards to marvel over the similarities and understand the differences. Otherwise, will a part of you always question ‘was I just experiencing that because that is what I expected?’.
Should I experience Past Life Regression prior to my LBL session?
Yes, it is recommended. An earlier separate full Past Life Regression session is a pre-requisite before booking an LBL session.
The journey to awaken an understanding of your immortal (Inter-life) identity begins with first experiencing who you have been before in relation to who you are now. The prior separate Past Life Regression session will familiarize you with the concept of traveling back in time to earlier memories and your soul’s experiences in former lives.
All MNI LBL Facilitators are also Past Life Regression practitioners and will be able to facilitate the pre session for you. Everyone is worthy of a deep, powerful and profound Life Between Lives® session. A prior Past Life Regression session will help you and your LBL facilitator to:
- become familiar with your own regressive hypnotic experience
- address any blocks that may impair deeper LBL connection
- uncover patterns you may then wish to explore during the LBL itself
- confirm that the superconscious can be opened and that you can travel beyond your current incarnation
- prepare your energy, mind and body for an LBL session (which can be for up to 4-5 hours)
- allow you to become comfortable with your LBL Facilitator.
People who ‘skip the PLR’ to experience an LBL sometimes report disappointing experiences, as they were not properly prepared for the LBL session.
Why is there a mini Past Life Regression within an LBL session?
Each LBL session begins with a brief exploration of a relevant past life before leading into the inter-life. This practice allows the mind to access the needed state to then connect more easily with your Life Between Lives.
The journey to the inter-life is one with which your consciousness is very familiar. The end of each past life heralds a new beginning to entering the inter-life, so it naturally leads to be able to access these memories.
Are all LBL Case stories the same?
Although there are strong similarities between most peoples LBL case experiences of the inter life, each persons life, soul evolution and current lessons are unique to them. This makes all case stories unique.
However, as soul development is something we all share as a journey (with us often having to learn the same lessons), the learnings from other peoples LBL story can be just as valuable in offering you a greater understanding of what might be true for your own life as well. In this way much LBL Wisdom is universal for everyone in ‘Earth school’.
How can I read more LBL cases?
All of the books featured on our publications page showcase LBL cases and the application of the learning to peoples lives. The Institute also publishes regularly the latest LBL cases from around the world in the quarterly Journal Stories of the Afterlife.
Why do you use hypnosis in an LBL session?
Hypnosis helps people get into a very relaxed inwardly focussed state. Hypnosis is a natural state we all access throughout the day (like a state of deep daydreaming where you could be fully present at any time if you wanted).
In hypnosis you are awake, just relaxed and fully focussed on an inward experience. This allows you to access knowing that is within you that you may not normally listen to. For LBL work, it is as though hypnosis is the starting point to help shift our consciousness, before we further reconnect with the aspect of us that remains in the spiritual realm.
What is it like to experience hypnosis?
Hypnosis is not like on the stage shows where people don’t remember what they were doing, or don’t seem to have any control over themselves. In a therapeutic setting, hypnosis it is much like a guided visualisation or relaxation state, where you are directed by suggestion, to access parts of yourself you don’t normally access with your conscious mind.
The hypnotic state is one that we all access several times a day effortlessly. when we ‘day-dream’, or zone out periodically. This state is accessing the natural Alpha and Theta brain waves that everyone has.
People say being in hypnosis is like experiencing a ‘detached parallel consciousness’, where you could snap yourself out of the ‘day-dream’ at any time, but you just won’t want to.
The hypnotic state is peaceful, where your conscious mind is resting so the ‘mind chatter’ steps aside for a short while, to see what else needs to be heard from deep within you. This temporary freeing of your conscious allows a trance to help you transcend time and space, enabling aspects of your being to make contact.
Going into hypnosis requires you to trust your LBL Facilitator so they may speak to the deeper parts of you that wish to be heard. Therefore, going into hypnosis for the client is about letting go. This is made easier with the understanding that all LBL Facilitators are highly trained in Clinical Hypnosis and practice LBL under the MNI Code of Ethics.
What is different between an LBL Session and a Past Life Regression Session?
Although there is a wide variety of ways people offer past life regression (PLR), in general the differences between most PLR’s and and LBL may include:
– PLR’s are shorter (1.5 – 2 hours), where as an LBL may be from 2.5 – 5 hours, depending on the individual.
– A PLR only explores consciousness from within another individual lifes’ memories, where as an LBL explores the eternal soul consciousness, which has memories of multiple lifetimes and an overview picture of the individuals souls evolution.
Should I experience Past Life Regression prior to my LBL session?
Yes. An earlier separate full Past Life Regression session is a pre-requisite before booking an LBL session. if you have this PLR session with your intended LBL facilitator, you can also get familiar with their voice and style to ensure you are comfortable for the LBL.

How has LBL work developed since it began?
Over the course of many decades of LBL work the MNI techniques for accessing the inter life are very similar to Dr Michael Newtons original work, however peoples experience of reconnecting is changing slightly.
Many LBL facilitators are finding that peoples experience in an LBL session is becoming less linear as the general consciousness of the people on Earth is raising. This means that, many people are now also connecting directly with the one-ness of the Inter-life and are sometimes not needing to do so many ‘station stops’ to receive what they need.
MNI continues to explore the afterlife and to engage in research.
How can I keep up to date with the latest LBL cases and MNI news?
